Mental Health Development Program me
Mental health and development program was implemented at 04 blocks Hilsa,
Karaipasauri, Nagarnausa, and Tharthari blocks in Nalanda district in Bihar under the
networking of NBJK, Hzb and supported by Basic Needs, UK. Under this program, 350
mental and epilepsy patients were identified. They were provided medical treatments and
families were mobilized for their care. Advocated for the establishment of a Mental
Hospital in Bihar and submitted a note to Government. Conducted signature campaigns for
treatment, rehabilitation, and employment of mental patients. 125 mental health patients
(families) have been provided seed money for self-employment. 250 mental health patients
benefitted.
Achievements
The entire community was sensitized for the care of mental patients.
Mental health has now emerged as a social agenda and major priority among the villagers.
A good number of disabled also received benefits through medical and other services as
well.
